The scheme’s founder presented a workshop which was well-attended and well-received, as a result of which a number of Trusts have now decided to seek permissions to implement the scheme. A carer from Dementia UK’s Uniting Carers also mentioned the scheme with great warmth in her presentation to the whole conference; she explained how stressful it was for carers to leave a loved one with dementia in hospital, knowing all the dangers and pitfalls, then what a relief it was when her husband was offered the Butterfly Scheme, which prompted staff to offer appropriate care and allowed her to relax when she went home.
