Barbara Davies, Service Development Sister in Cardiff who has been leading the Butterfly Scheme pilot at Llandough Hospital, has shared the following excerpt, sent in to the hospital by a carer:

“As a relative of an older person it was very reassuring to see that she was in good hands. The staff were all pleasant, approachable and genuinely caring. Due to my mother’s early cognitive impairment she is quite forgetful and this can be a little wearing. However the staff demonstrated their understanding of this condition and it was good to see the Butterfly Scheme in use which I had heard about. It is such a simple, clever, effective and discreet initiative for people who suffer from cognitive impairment and dementia.”

Congratulations from the Butterfly Scheme to the staff at Llandough for their superb work!
