March also brought exciting news in Cardiff and Vale UHB. Sister Jenny Buckley, who was the first ward nurse in Wales to implement the Butterfly Scheme (back in the days when hospitals used to trial the Scheme in a small number of wards before taking it further – it seems so long ago!), was runner-up in the Adult Nursing category in the RCN Wales first-ever Nurse of the Year awards. Jenny was previously the first nurse invited to speak at the inaugural showcase conference held by the Chief Nursing Officer for Wales.
